Guaraná Antarctica is a Brazilian soft drink. I had this soda 1 time prior about 2 years ago when I was in Des Moines, Iowa. When I found it again by pure chance I had to buy it again!
I had forgotten of all the great things I found in the international market in Des Moines called C-Fresh Market. If you ever find yourself in town, definitely stop by because that marketplace has a little of every culture in the world.
In this particular instance, I found it at El Rey but you can also find it in Cermak. Both these brand grocery stores carry many Latin American products and have Wisconsin and Midwest located branches only. If you go to your nearest Spanish store or multicultural grocery store, you might find this soda.
Below are links to help you find specific locations where they might have the soda. The Guaraná website has a worldwide store locator:
There seems to be 2 differing opinions on the taste. Some people say it’s fruity; which of course, it’s a fruit. Others say it reminds them of bubble gum. To me, it tasted like a sweet green grape. It also made me think of a sweet kiwi flavor. It leaves a light after taste.
The can cost me 99¢ US cents.
NUTRITION & INGREDIENTS
Below you can see the Nutritional Facts & ingredients but you can also find this info on the Guaraná website!
Would I buy it again? Yes.
I think this soda would be great in some cocktails; a great substitute for ginger ale or any citrus sodas. For the few products available from Brazil, I think this turned out to be a great find!
