I bought the (ハニップC) Hanip C Japanese Plum Water from Mitsuwa Marketplace in Chicago and I was so happy I did!
When I first saw the plum drink, I knew I had to have it. It looked odd because it had a whole fruit inside. What surprised me the most was that the fruit was already peeled.
The (ハニップC) Hanip C Japanese Plum Water is actually “ume & ringo” meaning it’s plum and apple, not just plum like the label says. It’s more than just “plum flavored water”. The ingredients also list juice.
I found another flavor of this same brand! Check out my review on the ハニップC: Citrus Kumquat Water!
This was $1.99USD.
When I first took a sip I was very surprised how clear the flavor was. It didn’t taste like the plum fruit was juiced. The list of ingredients say otherwise since apple juice, plum juice and high fructose corn syrup was used but to me, this tasted like plums soaked in water for a very long time.
The plum was squishy and juicy. It felt like a cross over of a peeled grape and pear. It tasted a lot like a red grape.
Would I buy this again? YES!
I absolutely loved this drink. It was smooth, tasty and satisfying. It made me consider making my own fruity water this way. I’m used to having infused water which tastes pretty mediocre compared to this. Maybe I’ll experiment to see if I can replicate something similar as this.
