STAR AVENUE in SHOW DC Mall: Mini Interactive Kpop Museum!

Naturally I couldn’t wait to visit South Korea because I wanted to go to the Star Avenue in Seoul. However, I was very excited to go see the Star Avenue in SHOW DC mall since I was already in Bangkok.

The collection of Kpop groups was small but the aesthetic is breathtaking. Any Kpop fan that goes to the Star Avenue for the first time would feel like they’re in a mini Kpop museum.

location

You can find this place in SHOW DC mall on the first floor. If you enter through the front doors, take the first hall to the right all the way to the end. You can’t miss it! First you’ll (try to) walk past the IDOL Live Café with BTS all over it and you’ll arrive to the sign in the photo above that says STAR AVENUE in rainbow colors.

wax figures

This Star Avenue had wax figures of 2 Korean actors, Kim Soo Hyun (김수현) and Lee Min Ho (이민호). I wished I could get close and take photos with them because they looked so life-like. To protect the figures, of course they completely sealed off the area. Still, I loved that the backgrounds look like rooms in a house instead of just putting the statues bare without decorations. It made taking photos more fun!

These sections had photos, screens & merch of various Korean celebrities. It’s not just Kpop idols, there’s also actors as well.

While the K Star section had random photos of various Kpop idols, in this Star Avenue, they had specific sections dedicated to EXO, Super Junior and 2PM.

hi-touch

There’s placards with Kpop idols hand prints that you can put your hands into, as if you’re doing hi-touch with the idol. The screens above had the idol whose had you touch appear. The screen shows them pose in different positions and do a specific gesture.

exo bias

I wish there was one Star Avenue in every major city in the U.S. It would draw a crowd, even non-Kpop fans would be intrigued by it.

Look at how cute Sehun (세훈) looks! Why wouldn’t any one want to see their bias on a giant screen every time they go to the mall?
