When I found these Lays Taro Chips with Sea Salt and Black Pepper, I had to have them.
At first I was a little skeptical; it could taste great or really bad.
I got these at Pacific Produce.

You can check most Asian or International market for different flavored Lays chips. I found these by chance so definitely try different shops, not just locally.
You can order online too but it’ll cost more.
This cost me $2.69USD.
Unfortunately I didn’t like these. The flavor was too strong for me. As someone who likes taro drinks and pastries, I thought this would taste a lot better. I’ve had basic taro milk when I was in Taipei, Taiwan that surprised me a bit because of how tasteless and pure taro flavor; it was literally just boiled taro and milk. This was worse than that because I could stomach the plain boiled taro milk.
The chips have a strong earthy flavor similar to raw potato. Surprisingly, taro does have a mild natural sweetness and I could taste it but the raw earthy flavor was too much and overpowered it.
You can look at the photo for the ingredients and written below.
Colocasia esculenta (Taro), soybean oil, sea salt and black pepper seasoning, (maltodextrin, sal, sugar, MSG, black pepper powder, yeast extract, disodium 5′ – ribonucleotide, silicon dioxide).

Would I buy Lays Taro Chips with Sea Salt and Black Pepper again? No.
Trying the Lays Taro Chips just once was enough. I tried eating more of the chips hoping that maybe I ate a bad chip but that wasn’t the case. Maybe it could’ve been the seasoning as well because I actually enjoyed the Lays Taro Lime Chips. Those tasted way great to me.
