Review: New Kellogg’s Pop Tarts Frosted Chocolatey Churro Flavor!

Last Updated on 2022/04/07

I was super excited for this new Pop Tarts Frosted Chocolatey Churro!

Churros is a classic pastry that’s popular among the Latino community. During my travels, I found a subtle popularity in South Korea and Japan as well.

What is a churro?

The thing about the churro is that many people associate it with Mexico even though it’s a popular pastry in many other Latino countries.

In fact, it’s speculated that the origin of the churro is from China due to its resemblance to the pastry “youtiao“. It’s believed the concept of pastry was brought to Europe by the Portuguese. Once introduced in Spain, the recipe was modified and it gained the star shape ring.

Other beliefs are that it was invented by Spanish shepherds for easy cooking in the mountains or perhaps it was a pastry created by the Romans in the first century.

Whatever it’s origin, it’s safe to say fried dough is a human delicacy!

Taste

This Pop Tart smelled so good to me since I love the taste of cinnamon. The taste had a good cinnamon flavor; it was easy to notice even against the chocolate. I think for me, it just tasted more like mexican hot cocoa or like cinnamon hot chocolate. The point is that it should taste like a churro that has chocolate and not like chocolate with cinnamon in it.

Unfortunately I thought the chocolate overshadowed the cinnamon flavor. Maybe if the focus was more on the cinnamon flavor with maybe a chocolate icing, that would have turned out a lot better.

Would I buy Pop Tarts Frosted Chocolatey Churro Flavor again?

Answer: No.

Worth Trying?: At least once.

I loved the cinnamon flavor of this Pop Tart but the chocolate ruined it a bit for me. Like I said above, this tastes more like cinnamon hot chocolate and not so much like churros dipped in melted chocolate.
