Review: Little Debbie Chocolate Chip Creme Pies!

Review: Little Debbie Chocolate Chip Creme Pies!

I was looking for a new snack when I saw the Little Debbie Chocolate Chip Creme Pies!

I thought these would be a perfect addition to my “pick & go” snacks.

This is their third design change and apparently it’s a new flavor. I never had the original recipe so I can’t compare these to those but I was excited to try the new recipe.

Product Details

The Little Debbie website describes these as “a layer of creme sandwiched between two soft chocolate chip cookies“.

If you love the deliciously classic taste of chocolate chip cookies, then you will fall head over heels for Little Debbie Chocolate Chip Creme Pies. A fan favorite for good reason, two soft chocolate chip cookies sandwiched with a layer of creme that is scrumptious! Great for eating as an on-the-go snack or popping in the freezer for a cool dessert after dinner. Unwrap a Smile® with these tasty treats!

I was really hoping for a simple chocolate chip cookie, maybe similar to an ice cream sandwich but with creme in the middle instead of ice cream. I was disappointed by how sweet it was. It was too much for me. The cookie tasted ok; nothing over a very basic chocolate chip cookie. The creme is poured on as a few dots, 5 – 6, nothing in the middle so I suppose the creme is supposed to spread once the cookies are sandwiched.

Maybe it’s just me but I felt more chocolate chips were needed as well. I’m used a classic chocolate chip cookie, light vanilla flavor in the dough with semi-sweet chocolate chips, which are the highlight of the cookie. This didn’t taste like that.

I checked the ingredients and found they use both natural and artificial flavoring to make the cookie which I can’t imagine the need to use artificial flavors for a chocolate chip cookie; it’s one of the most basic cookies that exists.

I got these at Woodman’s Market.

Would I buy the Little Debbie Chocolate Chip Creme Pies again?

Answer: No.

Worth Trying?: No.

There’s really nothing special about these so if you don’t try them, you won’t miss out on anything. I wouldn’t buy them again. I felt it was better to make them myself either from scratch or buy cookies and add creme or ice cream myself. It would be cheaper and probably taste better.
